I
love the idea of peace, but personally I can’t see that becoming a reality in our world, or in the hearts and minds
of mankind, unless we learn to accept and respect our inherent differences.
We look different. We think differently. We feel different
feelings, interpret things differently, are inspired by different stimuli, react to things in our own ways. We
are brought up in different cultures, environments, and we are taught different values and beliefs. To think that any one
of us can change everyone else to be, see and believe the same as we do is unrealistic.
Bird’s Eye View is a painting based on
a song by the same name (Alanis Morissette). In specific, the lyrics are: “Oh thank you, much thanks for this Bird’s
Eye View.” It speaks about the gift of seeing the vantage point from another person’s ship. When I have had the
privilege of receiving someone else’s perspective, and when I exercise the wisdom to assign it the value it deserves,
my world expands and the panorama view is fantastic, insightful, invaluable.
