About the Painting:
"Our Night" is a painting inspired by the idea of a romantic, cozy evening for two.
At this time I did the sketch, I was dating a man who was very kind and thoughtful. On one of our dates he prepared a
little patio dinner of wine, cheese, strawberries, little "bread thingys," complete with table cloth, candles and
music. We ate, drank, and visited, under the stars. So very enchanting.
I was inspired by, the idea of this night...an "our night." Everyone should have them. Frequently.
This guy has become my friend, rather than my lover. But I really liked the feeling of thoughtfulness and casual nature
of this little patio dinner. So I embellished a bit with my imagination. For the sake of the aesthetics and mood of the
painting, I wanted to pose the couple in a more intimate embrace to enhance the feeling of closeness.
I have since met my sweet soul mate, (not the man in this painting), a man I think is unique and special in every way.
With him, every night is a memorable "Our Night." Rather than destroy this particular painting, I have chosen
to let it stand on its original idea: the magic of a cozy, thoughtful, romantic evening.
