Oil Turmoil

About the Painting:

This ominous, cryptic painting is about – you guessed it – Peak Oil.  Are we there yet?  Have we already peaked?  Is there more oil?  Can’t we just drill...baby...drill?

The fact is, the age of oil is coming to an end.  Oil is in, or is the main reason we have, almost every product we possess or use. Life as we know it, enjoy it, is going to change… drastically.

When?  Well, the truth is, no one knows for sure.  Saudi Arabia, the country where the world’s largest oil wells are located, has chosen not to disclose to the rest of the world the individual well production data (represented by the secret sheiks on the right).  Without that information, no one can really say exactly when the peak of oil production will occur, but many expert oil researchers agree that it will happen very soon.  Going, going, gone.

We should be turning our attentions, energy, and creativity towards finding alternative energy sources and conserving the oil resources that we still have.

If you’d like to learn more about this issue in easy-to-understand lingo, like I did,  check out the “End of Oil” and “Addicted to Oil” documentaries (posted below).
