About the Painting:

In my view, the thing that really makes this world go 'round is when we help each other. The sketch for this painting was done in the winter of 2006. I had some car troubles, and several different people graciously stepped in to help me get them fixed. It got me thinking about this cycle: helping people, and receiving help from people.

What a gift it is to have another's help, and what a gift it is to offer help to someone else.

I tried to capture this feeling in this painting. The water ripples are symbolic of the ripple effect our actions have on others, and the jewels are my attempt to show the sparkling, wonderful place the world becomes when we assist one another.
