About the Painting:
I am a big fan of piano music, and am drawn to this song
for that reason. I am also a big fan of an amazing kiss; the kind full of passion and feeling. So this song was perfect!
While I was painting this piece, a documentary on the Italian painter, Michaelangelo Caravaggio, was playing on my T.V.
set. Weird how the subconscious works. Dark, shadowy backgrounds became the background for this piece, and I used Caravaggio's
unnatural, yet dramatic, lighting approach to emphasize the faces of the kissing couple.
I intentionally chose to portray that moment just before your lips touch, to create tension, give the piece movement,
enhance the feeling of intimacy, and set the mood.
