About the Painting:
I frequently listen to Aerosmith in my Loft (very loud!) while I paint, so it seemed fitting to pick one of their songs for
this show.
I decided to return to my fashion illustration days and do a funny spoof on the song, "Walk This Way." Always
guided by feeling first, I thought this song has a lot of sassyness and attitude, so I wanted to reflect that in
some funky fashion figures in bizarro clothing.
I picked the poses very intentionally, making the strides wide, the shoulders cocked, and the hands on hips - all to
enhance the attitude of confidence, cockiness, and give the painting a kind of cat-walk feel.
Though a painting is a static, still object, I wanted the figures to have a feeling like they were actually moving...walking
in a high energy, fast strut.
This is one of my favorite pieces in the One-Liners Show. The original has sold, but the piece is available in high
resolution, limited edition giclee on canvas.
