About the Painting:
I have always been attracted to topics that provoke emotional reaction. Lots of people select only artwork that makes them
feel happy, or matches their sofa. That is not my goal as an artist.
While I do paint some happy or motivational pieces, I also explore other emotions. It is a form of self expression...most
from my daily life. Whether it be joy, anger, disgust, hope, pleasure, sadness, happiness, relaxation, anxiety....whatever.
I believe that,to be successful, a painting should be more than a wall decoration: it should make you feel SOMETHING.
This painting was inspired by the feeling evoked by secrets; keeping secrets, and not telling secrets. I feel secrets
by their very nature have a great amount of power - for good and bad. I am keeping some secrets, and that got me thinking
about the energy expended on keeping a secret.
The inner conflict a secret can cause, and/or inner beauty and peace.
Those familiar with my work know that keys frequently appear in my paintings when my life is changing drastically: a symbol
of opening new doors.
