This meloncholy painting is my visual interpretation of the
process of introspective thought.

I find it an interesting endeavor that we as human beings
possess the ability to turn our thoughts inward, allow our candid scrutiny to cut to the bone, and inspect the fibers that make up who we are.

In this piece, I have posed the figure in a variation of “The Thinker.” My focal point was on the internal skeleton, the very armateur of what holds our frames together. It was a symbolic way of emphasizing the core of what’s inside.

The heart was added last, as an afterthought. I wanted to show that, as human beings, our hearts set us apart from all other species of life. Our feelings lead to judgement and thought, which lead to all other aspects of how we choose to conduct life.
